Enclosure Design for
Electronics That Have to Hold Together

Every piece of electronics needs a physical housing eventually, and it's one of the most commonly rushed parts of a hardware project. Most shops either treat it as an afterthought โ€” a generic box bolted on at the end โ€” or outsource it blind to someone who never saw the board it has to fit.

We treat the enclosure as part of the same build as the PCB and firmware, not a separate job handed off after the electronics are done. The same team that designed your board designs the housing around it.

In-House Printing Floor

A dedicated floor in our lab for enclosure printing โ€” revisions happen on our own timeline, not an outside shop's.

๐Ÿงฐ

Bambu Lab & Anycubic Printers

PLA and ABS, run by an in-house 3D designer who works from your actual PCB and component layout.

๐Ÿ”ฉ

Same Team as the PCB

The enclosure is designed around the board, not the other way around โ€” because the same company designs both.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Prototype to Batch

One printed prototype and fifty identical units are different problems. We design for both from the start.

Enclosure Work Happens In-House

Not aspirational, not outsourced โ€” this is the setup an enclosure project of ours actually runs through.

โœ“

In-House Printing Floor

Enclosure printing happens on a dedicated floor in our own lab, not sent out to a third-party shop and waited on.

โœ“

Bambu Lab & Anycubic Printers

Two machines running PLA and ABS, chosen for the mechanical properties each material actually needs โ€” heat tolerance, flex, finish.

โœ“

In-House 3D Designer

A dedicated designer models the enclosure around your actual component layout โ€” mounting points, cutouts, tolerances โ€” not a generic box.

Connected to Our PCB Team

Our in-house PCB design team and the enclosure designer work from the same board files, so mounting holes, connector cutouts, and screen windows line up the first time.

Enclosure Design Case Studies

Three different projects, three different depths of what we actually delivered โ€” described honestly, not blended together.

Interactive Retail Display โ€” Moulded Cavity, Spring-Backed Cradle, 50-Unit Batch

The enclosure held a video game controller in a moulded cavity on a spring-backed cradle, seating it at a consistent angle and position on the load sensor every time it was set back down. Printed in-house in PLA, and the shape was tuned specifically so it would print the same way across the full 50-unit run โ€” not just once on a bench.

From Board to Finished Housing

Short version, because the real work is in the iteration, not the outline.

Understand the Board

Your PCB and component layout reviewed first โ€” every port, screen, button, and sensor that needs a cutout.

Material & Tolerance Decisions

PLA or ABS chosen for the environment the device actually lives in, with fit tolerances set for the printer producing it.

Prototype Iteration

Printed, test-fitted, revised. Enclosure changes happen on our own floor, so a revision is a same-day turn, not a shipped sample.

Batch-Ready

Once the shape is right, it gets tuned to print the same way run after run โ€” for production volumes, not just one good unit.

Cold Storage Sensor โ€” Matter-Protocol Enclosure

"DigitalMonk was great to work with, a true pro, and very honest/ethical in their approach. I trust them and would call on them again for other projects. They took my very bare-bones ideas and turned them into a working device."
